Jasper Braakhuis

I am a Systems Engineer (SE) from Haarlem. Since 1999 I have gained experience in aviation, avionics and infrastructure, and I now build agentic AI for complex, regulated environments.

Engineer

  • 1999–2008 · NLR

    Avionics R&D to programme lead (RNLAF/Defence); stood up an AS9100 QMS; architecture work with the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) in Enterprise Architect and System Architect.

  • 2008–2016 · ADSE

    Technical consulting in systems engineering (e.g. Rijkswaterstaat, NS, ProRail, ESA — MBSE business case, Driessen); CROW top trainer for functional specification.

  • INCOSE

    Chair of the Special Interest Group (SIG) SE Invoering (SE adoption) (2006–2012): symposium, talks and publications. Initiator and final owner of the texts, illustrations, printing and official English translation of the book Home Improvement — two print runs, sold in print.

  • 2017–present · Modelmatic

    Applied my Systems Engineering discipline to Systems of Systems, Enterprise Architecting and Software as a Service (SaaS), for aviation regulators and ASML. From 2024 my first steps with AI: on my initiative, AI built into our ICAO State Letters application, which was further developed and rebuilt under my management. Incoming PDFs are now parsed and categorised automatically, which cut the admin burden considerably. In 2025 co-founder of aviation.bot.

Entrepreneur

More than ten years active as an entrepreneur and investor. Tienknoop BV is my own company, Modelmatic the name I work under.

    Started as a freelancer under the trade name Modelmatic. Focused on automation and modelling, from the conviction that models support automation — a direct line from my systems engineering background. Modelmatic has existed without interruption as a trade name of Tienknoop BV since 2017.

  • 2019–2024 · Systemmatic

    Co-founded from Tienknoop and led as managing director. Grew it from startup to a profitable SaaS serving aviation regulators on ICAO and EASA matters. Sold in 2025.

  • 2025 · Aviation.bot

    As Modelmatic, helped build a new SaaS, Aviation.bot, as co-founder.

  • 2026 · Modelmatic.eu

    The trade name I work under. In practice I apply agentic AI to QMS and SE/MBSE.

Maker

I have seen myself as a maker all my life, ever since I was a child. It started with music: recorder, the choir and later the piano. On the Commodore 64 I made music in a music engine I had built myself, and programmed my own games in machine code; later on the PC in assembly. I also wrote a book on systems engineering together with fellow professionals. I am currently working on a new book for Geldtuin. Alongside that, I am building a jukebox, a games arcade and a radio, and I make games with my kids using AI in our own game studio. Through all those years, making has been the common thread.
